Mr. Balbir Singh Kakar is actively associated with various educational and medical institutions to give back to the society. He is Trustee of U.N. accredited Loomba Foundation – a charitable trust that helps poor widows and educates their children, regardless of gender or religion. The foundation is actively associated with different charitable institutions in more than 13 countries.
He is also chairman - International affairs of "The world Punjabi organization", which promotes culture and brotherhood of Punjabi’s irrespective of their religion, caste, creed and color, having various chapters in several countries. Presently he is associated with the following non-profitable organization:-
Being a Trustee of Loomba foundation, he was part of delegation of Loomba foundation which was represented at United Nations by its President Ms Cherie Blair, Chairman Lord Raj Loomba ,CBE QC and Trustee, Mr. Balbir Singh Kakar, when United Nation Secretary General HE Ban Ki Moon declared 23rd June as “International Widow Day” and handed over the certificate of declaration to its president.
In 2016, Mr. Kakar was part of delegation of Loomba foundation to launch the Foundation’s project to empower 5,000 widows which was inaugurated by Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi at Vanarasi.
In 2016, Mr. Kakar also organised a fund raiser event at the Siri Fort Auditorium in Delhi. The fund raised have been used to provide training and sewing machines to 1,000 unfortunate widows and female inmates in all 19 district prisons in the state of Haryana which was covered by most of national tv channels & newspaper.
Maple Leaf Tower – a luxury residential project was inaugurated by then Dy. Chief Minister of Punjab Shri Sukhbir Singh Badal, launched by the BMK group is to pay tribute to the holy city of Amritsar which is being established with no profit margin or least profit margin as tribute to holy.
BMK Education Project at Karnal Haryana :- One of its group company has purchased land having an area of more than 7 acres to construct international school campus to provide basic and professional education to weaker section of society.
Financial contribution to NGO and Non-profitable organization:- His group companies keep on contributing with open heart to various NGO and non-profitable organization on case to case basis and participate in every social cause wherever the assistance is sought.
He was one of the most successful business man in Canada amongst those who had migrated to Canada in 70”s, he was at the peak of his career in Canada in 80”s, but when he was invited by Haryana Government in 1982 to invest in Haryana, he reciprocated the same, due to his immense love and loyalty towards the country. He came back to India in 1983, he was man behind to give “First Five star Deluxe hotel” to Haryana.
